Big Sur International Marathon

Big Sur International Marathon

Posted by Sarah Blackstone on

For the third year, CERV of the Monterey Peninsula volunteered at the Big Sur International Marathon, contributing 156 hours of 32 CERT-trained volunteers' time. We worked the transportation booth on both days of the Expo, giving bus tickets to all of the marathoners. In the early hours of marathon morning, we did traffic control in downtown Monterey. We were uniquely suited to manage the commotion and logistics, wearing our reflective CERT vests, helmets, and flashers to direct thousands of race participants on foot and in vehicles to 70+ buses. Thanks to our volunteers, and congratulations to the finishers!
